About

Lake Anna State Park Hunts campground sits on 3,127 acres along Lake Anna, a 13,000-acre reservoir created in 1971. The campground features 46 sites accommodating RVs up to 60 feet, with 23 standard sites and 23 sites with electric and water hookups accepting 20, 30, and 50-amp service. Each site includes a steel fire ring, picnic table, and lantern holder, with centrally located bathhouses offering hot showers. The park provides extensive recreational opportunities including over 15 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails through mixed hardwood and pine forests. A public boat launch offers free access to overnight guests, while a 2-acre accessible fishing pond near the visitor center caters to children and disabled anglers. Lake Anna is renowned for largemouth bass, crappie, and bream fishing. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the park operates a guarded swimming beach with bathhouse and snack bar. The visitor center features exhibits on the area's gold mining history, including tours of the historic Goodwin Gold Mine where gold was discovered in 1829. The campground operates seasonally from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December, with check-in at 4 p.m. and checkout at 1 p.m.
