About

Kreis Pond Campground sits in a lodgepole and ponderosa pine forest about 5 miles northwest of the historic Ninemile Ranger Station in Lolo National Forest. The seven campsites are arranged around a 7-acre pond stocked with westslope cutthroat trout by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets available on-site. The pond allows non-motorized boating, and visitors can launch kayaks or small boats directly from the shoreline. Multi-use trails in the area provide opportunities for mountain biking and hiking, with terrain suitable for novice riders. A day-use area with two grills is also available. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on-site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a two-night maximum stay. Cash or check payment only. Food storage requirements apply due to bear activity in the area.

Directions

From I-90, take Exit 82 at Ninemile, then take Montana Highway 10 west to Remount Road. Drive 2.5 miles north to the Ninemile Ranger Station, then continue 5 miles northwest on the Edith Peak and Butler Creek Loop Roads.
