Knieff Dispersed Camp North is a primitive camping area located within the Flathead National Forest in northwest Montana. This free dispersed camping site offers backcountry camping opportunities in Flathead County with no developed facilities or services. The area is subject to the forest's food storage order, which requires proper storage of all food, garbage, and scented items to minimize grizzly bear conflicts. As with all dispersed camping on the Flathead National Forest, campers must pack out all trash, use existing fire rings when available, and follow Leave No Trace principles. The site may be accessed via forest roads, though winter access can be limited by snow and road closures. Dispersed camping is not permitted near developed recreation areas, trailheads, or day-use sites. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions with no water, restrooms, or other amenities. The maximum stay limit is 16 days, though some areas may have shorter limits posted. This area provides an opportunity for solitude and backcountry camping experience in the Rocky Mountains of northwest Montana.
