About
Kingfisher Campground sits in a mixed evergreen forest at approximately 1,250 feet elevation along the banks of the Hot Springs Fork of Collawash River, a tributary to the Wild and Scenic Clackamas River. The campground's more primitive appearance gives it a true nature feel while still offering essential amenities including vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump. Each of the 23 sites has a table and campfire ring with grill. The surrounding area offers excellent recreation opportunities. Catch-and-release fishing for trout is permitted on the main fork of the Collawash. The Clackamas River provides class III-IV whitewater for rafting and kayaking. Bull of the Woods Wilderness to the south features numerous hiking trails, and primitive forest roads are open to mountain biking. Bagby Hot Springs, a popular soaking destination with historic bathhouses fed by natural hot springs, lies about 5 miles southwest. The Ripplebrook Camp Store approximately 9 miles north provides supplies. Estacada, 35 miles northwest, offers full services including groceries and fuel.
Directions
From Estacada, travel east on Highway 224 for 26 miles, then turn right on Road 46 and continue for 5 miles. Turn onto Road 63 and continue for 4 miles. Turn onto Road 70 and continue about 2 miles to the campground.
