Northerly winds with gusts up to 40 mph will continue through late tonight. The areas most likely to see the strongest wind gusts include the portions of Chugiak and Birchwood west of the Glenn Highway, JBER and Government Hill, Downtown Anchorage and all of west Anchorage. For the rest of Anchorage and Eagle River, winds will be much lighter. Winds along the Kenai Peninsula will be strongest from Nikiski to Kenai, with gusts up to 45 mph. Winds will then slowly diminish through Tuesday morning.

Located at milepost 110 on the Sterling Highway near Kasilof, Johnson Lake State Recreation Area encompasses 332 wooded acres surrounding Johnson Lake on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. The campground offers 51 campsites divided between non-electric RV sites and tent sites, all with fire grates and picnic tables. RV sites accommodate rigs up to 35 feet. The recreation area features accessible vault toilets, drinking water, a boat launch for lake access, multiple picnic areas, and picnic shelters. Johnson Lake is popular for rainbow trout fishing and non-motorized boating, including canoeing and kayaking. The lake operates under a no-wake rule. Walking trails wind through the spruce forest surrounding the lake. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with moose, black and brown bears, lynx, squirrels, and hares commonly seen in the area. The campground operates seasonally from June through September and is managed by Alaska State Parks. Some campsites are available through advance reservation via ReserveAmerica, while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis. A group campsite accommodating up to 30 people and a group picnic area are also available by reservation. The campground has a 15-day stay limit and charges a day-use parking fee.

At milepost 110 on the Sterling Highway turn onto Johnson Lake Road, then turn onto Tustumena Lake Road, take the first right into the Johnson Lake State Recreation Area.
