About

John James Audubon State Park campground sits within a 700-acre park in Henderson, Kentucky, just south of the Ohio River. The campground features 83 total sites distributed across multiple loops, including 64 standard electric sites with hookups, 4 non-electric sites, and 15 primitive tent sites. Sites accommodate up to 8 people with maximum driveway lengths ranging from 25 to 53 feet, and several pull-through sites are available. The park preserves the hilly forests and peaceful woods where the famous naturalist John James Audubon walked and studied birds for his paintings. The campground provides modern amenities including hot showers, bathhouses, a dump station, and water fill-up stations. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. The park features an internationally acclaimed museum with the world's largest collection of Audubon originals and artifacts, a nature center, and 6.5 miles of forest hiking trails. Additional park amenities include a nine-hole golf course, a 28-acre fishing lake with pedal boat rentals, tennis courts, four picnic shelters, and playgrounds. The campground operates seasonally from mid-March through mid-November, with reservations available up to 12 months in advance through Kentucky State Parks' reservation system.
