About
Located in Henderson along the Ohio River, John James Audubon State Park preserves the natural environment where the famed naturalist and artist studied wildlife in the early 1800s. The campground sits in a gated area with 83 sites including 64 standard electric sites with water hookups, 4 non-electric sites, and 15 primitive tent sites. RV sites accommodate rigs from 25 to 53 feet with both back-in and pull-through options available. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The campground features a bathhouse with heated restrooms, flush toilets, and hot showers. A centralized dump station and laundry facilities serve RV campers. A playground and shelter provide gathering spaces, and well-stocked bird feeders throughout the campground offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Beyond camping, the park is home to the Audubon Museum housing the world's largest collection of Audubon originals and artifacts. Recreation Lake offers fishing, canoeing, and paddle boat rentals. Over 12 miles of hiking trails wind through the park, and additional amenities include a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, and nature center programs.
