About

Camp Cadiz Campground occupies the historic site of a Civilian Conservation Corps work camp in southeastern Illinois within Shawnee National Forest. This quiet, primitive campground rarely fills except during turkey and deer hunting seasons, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude. Each level campsite includes a fire ring with grill and picnic table, and the campground offers vault toilets and potable water. Equestrian camping is welcome, and RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. From Camp Cadiz, trail users can access both the River-to-River Trail and Beaver Trail from the trailhead just north of the campground. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Campers should be prepared to pack out all trash. The fee is $10 per night per site, with a maximum capacity of 8 people and 2 vehicles per site. Payment is by cash or check only. Pets are allowed on leash.
