Pine Ridge Campground is tucked away among the Shawnee Hills on a ridgetop overlooking Pounds Hollow Lake. This 35-site campground offers a mix of 13 electric sites with 20/30/50 amp service and 22 non-electric sites. Every site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and lantern pole. Potable water is available from a spigot at the campground entrance. Pounds Hollow Lake below provides opportunities for swimming at a designated beach area, fishing, and nature watching. Several hiking trails explore the surrounding sandstone bluffs and forested hills. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers should note the narrow campground roads limit vehicle size to under 25 feet. Payment is cash or check only. Pets must remain leashed at all times and are prohibited on the beach and in the swimming area.

Directions

From Harrisburg: Take Highway 34/145 south 6 miles, then continue on Highway 34 south for 9 miles. Turn east onto Karbers Ridge Road and go 9 miles to the recreation area entrance. From the east: Take Highway 62 west continuing on IL State Route 141 to Highway 1. Go south on Highway 1 about 24 miles to Karbers Ridge Road, then west 2 miles to the recreation area entrance.
