About
Intermediate Lake Campground is a primitive backcountry campground located on the shoreline of Intermediate Lake within Isle Royale National Park. Access requires a 0.6 mile portage from Lake Richie or a 0.4 mile portage from Siskiwit Lake, making it accessible only by canoe or kayak. The campground features 3 first-come, first-served tent sites in a remote wilderness setting. This backcountry site offers a true wilderness experience with minimal amenities. The campground has food storage lockers to protect against wildlife encounters, seasonal composting toilets, and non-potable water. The terrain throughout the campground is uneven and rough, and facilities are not accessible. A 2-night stay limit is in effect from June 1 through Labor Day annually. Self-contained stoves are required; open fires are not permitted.
