Fifteen Mile Creek Campsite

Located at Mile 140 on the C&O Canal Towpath, Fifteenmile Creek Campground occupies a scenic spot where Fifteen Mile Creek meets the Potomac River. The campground is tucked in the mountains of western Maryland, adjacent to Green Ridge State Forest, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the surrounding natural areas. Little Orleans is the nearest town, situated upstream of Hancock and downstream of Paw Paw, West Virginia. The campground offers nine single drive-in campsites, each accommodating up to eight people with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. A 30-person group site is also available but lacks direct vehicle access. Small RVs, travel trailers, and pop-ups up to 20 feet can be accommodated. Vault toilets are located between sites 3 and 4. Potable water from a hand pump is available seasonally from mid-April through late October. Boating and fishing are the primary draws here, with a boat ramp providing direct access to the Potomac River. The park operates as a trash-free facility, so campers must pack out all waste. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Pets are permitted but must be leashed at all times with waste removed by owners.

Directions

From Hagerstown: Take I-70W to I-68W. Take Exit 68 towards Little Orleans. Follow Orleans Rd for 4 miles. Make a left on High Germany Rd and it will dead end at the campground. From Cumberland: Take I-68 east for 25 miles to exit 68 and then follow Orleans Road for 4 miles. Make a left on High Germany Rd and it will dead end in the park. Note: RVs and trailers should use High Germany Road as Orleans Road has a low-clearance tunnel.
