About
Fifteen Mile Creek Campground sits at Mile 140 on the historic C&O Canal Towpath in Little Orleans, Maryland, on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. This remote drive-in facility accommodates RVs, trailers, and pop-outs up to 20 feet maximum. The campground includes 9 single campsites, each accommodating up to 8 people, plus 1 group site that holds up to 30 people and does not have direct vehicle access. Each single site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The campground's location at the confluence of Fifteen Mile Creek and the Potomac River makes it ideal for water-based recreation. A boat ramp provides easy access for kayakers and anglers, though a Maryland fishing license is required for those 16 and older. The surrounding landscape features the mountains of Western Maryland, with adjacent Green Ridge State Forest and Billmeyer Wildlife Management Area offering additional outdoor opportunities. The area is particularly scenic during autumn. Facilities include protected pit toilets located between campsites 3 and 4. Potable hand pump water is available seasonally from April 15 through October 31, though campers should bring backup water supplies as pump handles may not always be in place. The park operates as a trash-free facility, requiring all visitors to pack out their waste. RV access requires using High Germany Road due to a low-clearance tunnel on Orleans Road.
