Order 015 - Road Use Regulations - Forest Development
Code of Federal Regulations, the following acts are prohibited on all Forest Development Roads under the jurisdiction of the Black Hills National Forest:

About
Grizzly Bear Campground is a historic camping area that has retained much of its original Civilian Conservation Corps character since its construction. Nestled beneath a canopy of oak and Ponderosa pine along the banks of Grizzly Creek, the campground features approximately 20 campsites and a CCC-built pavilion still available for camper use. Located on the scenic Iron Mountain Road (US Highway 16A), the campground sits between two iconic destinations: Mount Rushmore National Memorial (just 1 mile northwest) and Custer State Park. The campground is situated within the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve and close to the Black Elk Wilderness, South Dakota's only designated wilderness area. Wildlife abounds in the area, including bighorn sheep, elk, deer, pronghorn, bald eagles, hawks, and osprey. From a nearby trailhead, campers can access the Centennial Trail and explore parts of the Black Elk Wilderness. The famous Iron Mountain Road features CCC-built pigtail bridges and tunnels that frame breathtaking views of Mount Rushmore. Due to tight, sharp turns on the access road, towing vehicles is prohibited. This includes vehicles pulling trailers, fifth-wheels, motorhomes pulling vehicles, and pop-up campers. Only vehicles up to 24 feet maximum are allowed, with no overflow parking available. The campground offers a primitive camping experience with vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and campfire rings. Firewood is available for purchase on-site.
Directions
From Keystone, South Dakota, travel west to the junction with US Highway 16A. Travel south on 16A for approximately 1.9 miles. Campground is on the right, one mile southeast of Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
