About

Sheridan North Cove Group Campground is located on the north shore of Sheridan Lake in Black Hills National Forest, surrounded by Ponderosa pine forest. The campground features 5 group sites designed for large gatherings and family reunions, with several sites offering direct lake views. The facility can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs, though electrical hookups are not available. The north shore area provides convenient access to a marina with boat slip rental, groceries and fishing supplies, a large swimming beach, picnic areas, and a boat launch. Fishing piers are scattered around the lake. Sheridan Lake offers excellent opportunities for fishing (rainbow trout, brown trout, northern pike, and perch), swimming, boating, and water skiing. The Dakota Point Trailhead for the Centennial Trail and the Calumet Trailhead for the historic Flume Trail are located nearby on the northeast side of the lake. The 11-mile Flume Trail, designated a National Recreation Trail, follows the historic Rockerville Flume bed that operated until 1885, carrying water from Spring Creek to placer diggings near Rockerville. The area is rich with wildlife including bighorn sheep, elk, deer, pronghorn, and numerous bird species. Nearby attractions include Jewel Cave, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Custer State Park, and Wind Cave National Park.
