About
Located approximately two hours southwest of Denver at 7,723 feet elevation, Goose Creek Campground offers developed camping near the Lost Creek Wilderness in Pike National Forest. The campground sits alongside Goose Creek, which runs year-round and provides a bubbling brook atmosphere for camping and fishing opportunities.
As the only campground that survived the Hayman Fire, this area serves as an oasis of green among the burnt surroundings. The Goose Creek Trailhead is nearby and provides access to the Lost Creek Wilderness via the Hankins Pass #630 and Goose Creek #612 trails, making this a popular base camp for hikers. Recreational opportunities include fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and scenic drives along National Forest System Road 211.
The campground operates first-come, first-served only with no advance reservations. Sites fill quickly, especially on weekends, with visitors often arriving Thursday for weekend camping. Each site accommodates up to 8 people with 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 RV. Primitive dispersed camping is available along NFSR 211 at designated locations, though camping at the Goose Creek Trailhead itself is prohibited.
