About

Horseshoe Point Campground is nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake in the rugged foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, located in a rural and sparsely populated part of Franklin County near the community of Henry. The campground offers 49 total campsites: 15 sites with electric and water hookups and 34 primitive sites without hookups. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, and a dump station. Philpott Lake covers 2,900 acres with 100 miles of shoreline characterized by steep, rocky banks meeting beautiful mixed forests of oak, maple, hickory, pine, and cedar. The lake's clear water and natural shoreline provide excellent opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers enjoy catching large and smallmouth bass, walleye, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. The campground features a swimming beach, boat ramp, dock, picnic shelter, and playground for family recreation. Many miles of hiking and biking trails surround Philpott Lake, allowing visitors to explore this scenic area. Wildlife is abundant throughout the area, with deer, turkeys, squirrels, raccoons, and a variety of songbirds and waterfowl commonly viewed. The lake is adjacent to Fairystone State Park and Fairystone Farms Wildlife Management Area, which includes 5,300 acres of additional public recreational lands.
