About
Fairy Stone State Park, home of the legendary fairy stones, sits on 4,741 acres featuring a 168-acre lake adjoining Philpott Reservoir, just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The park offers 25 fully renovated cabins ranging from efficiency units to 2-bedroom lakefront options, plus a 16-person lodge with universal accessibility features. All cabin renovations have been completed, featuring modern amenities while preserving the historic character of the original CCC-era log structures. Accommodations are climate-controlled with full kitchens (refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker), wood-burning fireplaces with one bundle of firewood included, and outdoor amenities including picnic tables, pedestal grills, and fire rings. Cabins 1-9 are historic CCC-era log cabins, while cabins 10-25 feature screened-in porches. The lodge offers five bedrooms and three bathrooms with partial universal accessibility. Note that linens are not provided; guests must bring all bedding and towels. Recreational opportunities include unguarded swimming at the designated beach (free for overnight guests during guarded season), boat rentals (rowboats, paddleboats, kayaks, canoes available Memorial Day through Labor Day), fishing for bluegill, crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, and stocked trout, and 10 miles of multi-use trails through the Little Mountain Trail System. The park also features an equestrian campground with stalls, picnic shelters, Fayerdale Hall conference center, and seasonal concessions.
