Goose Creek State Park

Open — Open year-round with 24-hour campground access. Group campsites operate mid-March through late November. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights within any 30-day period.

About

Giant oaks draped in Spanish moss welcome visitors to Goose Creek State Park, where broad Goose Creek joins the Pamlico River in eastern North Carolina. The park spans 1,672 acres and provides two distinct camping experiences. The newly opened RV camping area features 22 sites with full hookups (electric, water, and sewer), a bathhouse with flush toilets, and convenient access. Each site includes a tent pad, fire ring with grill, picnic table, and lantern hook. Six camper cabins in this area sleep up to six people with heating, air conditioning, and electricity, though campers must bring linens and use the nearby bathhouse. The primitive tent campground, located between Goose and Flatty creeks, offers 14 well-spaced sites that each accommodate two tents. These sites provide fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and parking for two vehicles, with water spigots and composting toilets nearby. Two primitive group sites are also available seasonally from mid-March through late November, accommodating up to 26 people each. The park offers year-round recreation with a swim beach, hiking trails through longleaf pine restoration areas, paddling access, and a boat ramp at Dinah's Landing. Wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, with osprey, bald eagles, and seasonal waterfowl including tundra swans. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through the state parks system, with a 14-night maximum stay within any 30-day period.
