About
Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is situated in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. Part of the 160,000-acre Croatan National Forest, the campground is bordered by salt marsh and coastal forest where fresh water meets salt water, creating a nutrient-rich wetland habitat for commercial seafood including fish, shrimp, crabs and oysters. The campground features 36 sites, with 35 offering full electrical service at 20/30/50 amps and one non-electric site. A modern bathhouse provides private hot showers and accessible flush toilets. A dump station with potable water connection is available. Of the 36 sites, 32 are reservable through Recreation.gov (minimum 3 days advance notice required) and 4 are first-come, first-served only. The campground enforces a 14-night maximum stay per 30-day period. Recreation opportunities include the Tidelands National Trail, a 1.9-mile path divided into two loops ideal for wildlife viewing where visitors may spot ospreys and occasional dolphins. The recreation area includes a picnic area and shallow draft boat launch. Canoeing and fishing are popular activities, and power boating is permitted on the White Oak River. The campground is within 1 mile of full-service shopping and 2 miles of the Crystal Coast barrier island beaches at Bogue Banks, making it an ideal base camp for coastal exploration.
