About

Francis Beach Campground serves as the main camping hub at Half Moon Bay State Beach, positioned directly along the Pacific Ocean in San Mateo County. The campground offers 52 sites accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs up to 40 feet, with over half the sites featuring electric hookups at 30, 50, or 110 amps. Premium oceanfront sites with electricity command higher rates but deliver unobstructed ocean views. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. Facilities include flush restrooms and quarter-operated hot showers, plus an RV dump station with a potable water filling station for a $10 fee. Firewood bundles are sold on-site. The campground connects to the 2.36-mile paved Coastside Trail, which runs along the bluffs and is wheelchair accessible. A beach wheelchair is available free at the entrance station. Four ADA-accessible campsites and two accessible comfort stations serve visitors with disabilities. Dogs are permitted in the campground and on the Coastside Trail but prohibited on beaches. Quiet hours run from 10 PM to 6 AM, with generators off between 8 PM and 10 AM. Stay limits are 7 consecutive nights from May through October and 15 nights from November through April, with a 30-day annual maximum across the Santa Cruz District.
