About

Francis Beach Campground at Half Moon Bay State Beach sits on scenic ocean bluffs overlooking the Pacific, just one mile west of Highway 1 off Kelly Avenue. The campground features 52 total campsites, including four tent-only sites that offer bluff camping close to the ocean. More than half the campsites provide electrical hookups at 30, 50, or 110 amps, while premium oceanfront sites with electricity offer the best views. All sites include picnic tables and fire rings, and can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. While there are no water or sewer hookups at individual sites, the campground provides a dump station and potable water filling station for a $10 fee. Restrooms and quarter-operated hot showers are available throughout the campground. Firewood is available for purchase. The campground also offers hike and bike enroute camping on a first-come, first-served basis for long-distance coastal cyclists and hikers. Francis Beach provides direct access to miles of sandy beach, though swimming is not recommended due to dangerous rip currents and cold water. Several campsites are ADA accessible. Dogs are permitted in the campground on 6-foot leashes but are not allowed on the beach. The campground operates year-round with reservations available up to six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia.
