About

Sweetwood Group Campground offers large groups the opportunity to camp on the California coast at Half Moon Bay State Beach. Located between Venice and Dunes beaches, 2.5 miles north of Francis Beach, the campground features a spacious field with a central picnic area and fire ring surrounded by a cypress tree grove. The site sits just steps from the beach and the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail, which runs through the campground and connects to Pillar Point Harbor to the north. This is a tent-only facility that accommodates up to 50 people and 12 vehicles. The campground has pit toilets but no running water, so groups must bring their own water supply. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with firewood available for purchase. The site is positioned on a bluff overlooking the bay, offering coastal camping access with proximity to multiple beaches. Recreational vehicles and trailers are strictly prohibited. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia. Check-in begins at 2 pm and checkout is at noon. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 pm to 6 am, and generators are not applicable for this tent-only site. Dogs are allowed but must be on a 6-foot maximum leash and are not permitted on the beach. Collecting driftwood is prohibited, and beach fires are not allowed.
