Fourmile Rustic Campground

Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground sits on the shore of Fourmile Lake in the Superior National Forest, offering a remote and primitive camping experience in Minnesota's Northwoods. The campground provides four car-accessible sites, each with a fire ring and tent pad. An additional two backcountry campsites are located along the lakeshore, accessible only by boat from the campground's boat ramp and dock. This is a true rustic campground with minimal amenities. A vault toilet serves the main campground area while wilderness latrines are available at the backcountry sites. There is no potable water; campers must bring their own or treat lake water by boiling or filtering. No garbage service is provided, so all trash including fish remains must be packed out. The campground accommodates one vehicle plus one towed vehicle per site, with parking available for those using the backcountry sites. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a six-foot or shorter leash when outside vehicles or tents, and all pet waste must be picked up. Food must be stored in bear-resistant containers.

Directions

From Duluth, follow MN 61 north to just past Schroeder. Turn left (north) onto Forest Road 343. Turn left (west) on FR 166. After one mile, turn right (north) on FR 346. After 5 miles, turn right (east) on FR 170. Drive 2.5 miles northeast; Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground is on the right.
