About
Fourmile Lake Rustic Campground offers a peaceful, primitive camping experience on the shores of Fourmile Lake in Minnesota's Superior National Forest. Located approximately 12 miles northwest of Tofte, this free campground features four sites accessible by car, with two sites long enough to potentially accommodate RVs over 21 feet, though sites are pull-in and not specifically designed for larger vehicles. Two additional backcountry campsites are accessible by boat from the campground's boat ramp. The campground provides basic amenities including a boat ramp, dock, vault toilet, and parking for trailers. However, there is no potable water available, so campers must treat, boil, or filter lake water before use. There is no garbage pickup, requiring visitors to pack out all waste including fish cleaning remains. The lake offers fishing opportunities, and if the fishing is slow, nearby Toohey Lake is just a mile down the road. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations. Sites accommodate up to nine people with space for one vehicle and one towed vehicle. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a six-foot or shorter leash. Access is via a network of forest roads, and the campground road is not plowed during winter months.
