OXBOW RUSTIC CAMPGROUND
The campground is closed for the season. Opens May 15, 2026, and operates through October 1, 2026. No reservations; all sites are first-come, first-served. No services available outside the operating season.
About
Oxbow Rustic Campground provides a quiet, primitive camping experience along the scenic Temperance River in northeastern Minnesota's Superior National Forest. This small rustic campground is part of the Tofte Ranger District and offers access to trout fishing and the surrounding boreal forest landscape. As a designated rustic campground, Oxbow has minimal development with basic facilities including vault toilets, fire rings with cooking grates, and picnic tables at each site. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply or treat water from natural sources. There is no fee for camping, and sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. The campground is best suited for tent camping or small camping vehicles. The narrow forest roads and small site spurs limit access for larger RVs. Maximum stay is 14 days, and group size is limited to 9 people per site.

Located in the Tofte Ranger District of Superior National Forest. Access from Highway 61 near Tofte via forest roads. Contact the Tofte Ranger District at 7355 West Hwy 61, Tofte, MN 55615 for specific directions.
