About
East Fork Campground is located in the San Juan National Forest, 11 miles northeast of Pagosa Springs along East Fork Road (Forest Road 667). At 7,700 feet elevation, this campground tends to be warmer than others in the area. The 26 campsites are spread across a ridge overlooking the East Fork of the San Juan River, shaded by ponderosa pine and Gambel oak trees. While some sites offer river views, access to the water requires descending short but steep trails. The campground provides potable water, three vault toilets, trash service, picnic tables, and fire grates at each site. A few sites feature level pull-through parking suitable for RVs up to 35 feet. Of the 26 sites, 17 are reservable through Recreation.gov and 9 are first-come, first-served. Standard site occupancy is 8 people. The area offers excellent recreation opportunities. The East Fork provides fishing upstream from the campground. Trailheads for Coal Creek Trail and Quartz Ridge Trail are 2-5 miles beyond at Sand Creek. Silver Falls is accessible via a short trail a few miles up East Fork Road. Mountain bikers frequently ride to the falls. Treasure Falls, an impressive 100-foot waterfall, is just five miles away off Highway 160.
Directions
From Pagosa Springs, travel 9.75 miles north on US Highway 160, then turn east on Forest Road 667 for 0.75 mile to the campground on the right.
