About
Deep Creek Campground is a small, rustic campground situated on the historic Magruder Corridor, a unique road created in 1980 that runs between the 1.2 million-acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness to the north and the 2.3 million-acre Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness to the south. Located near the banks of Deep Creek at 4,137 feet elevation, this remote campground offers 6 first-come, first-served campsites, with 2 sites featuring picnic tables and fire rings. A vault toilet is provided, but there is no potable water or garbage service, so visitors must pack in their own water and pack out all trash. The campground can accommodate RVs or trailers up to 25 feet and welcomes stock animals with 2 feed bunks and 2 hitch posts available. The Magruder Corridor is mostly narrow and bumpy, requiring high-clearance vehicles and is closed during heavy snow periods. A Food Storage Order is in effect from March 1 through December 1 annually due to bear activity. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days, after which campers must move at least 5 miles away. This primitive campground offers exceptional solitude and access to hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and OHV camping in one of the most remote areas of the Bitterroot National Forest.
