About
Paradise Campground sits in a remote corner of the Bitterroot National Forest near the Paradise Boat Launch, serving as a key access point for the permitted Wild and Scenic Selway River. The campground features 6 developed sites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, making it suitable for both tent campers and RVs up to 25 feet in length. Three vault toilets serve the campground. The location is especially popular with river runners launching on the Selway during the permitted season and serves as a trailhead for several backcountry hiking routes into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. Horse campers will find hitching rails and feed bunks available. The campground is accessed via a long, remote drive over the Magruder Corridor from Darby, Montana, requiring over 2 hours of travel on forest roads. No fees are charged and no potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring their own drinking water. The remote setting offers solitude and access to exceptional wilderness recreation opportunities including fishing, hunting, hiking, and backpacking.
Directions
From Darby, MT travel south 4.3 miles on Highway 93, turn south on the West Fork Road and proceed for approximately 14.3 miles. Turn west on Forest Road 468, Nez Perce Road and travel for approximately 34.8 miles (Nez Perce Rd becomes Magruder Corridor.) At Magruder Crossing continue north on FS 6223. Follow 11.2 miles to the end and the campground.
