About
Davidof Lake Cabin offers wilderness solitude in the South Baranof Wilderness Area of Tongass National Forest. This 16x16-foot A-frame cabin sits on the north shore of Davidof Lake at 650 feet elevation, nestled almost 100 feet inside a spruce and hemlock forest with no view of the lake. The cabin sleeps eight with a sleeping loft accessed by vertical ladder and two double plywood bunks on the main level. The cabin is furnished with a wood stove for heat, axe or splitting maul, table and benches, cooking counter, broom, and outhouse. A heavy square-bowed skiff with oars is provided for lake access. Visitors must bring sleeping bags, pads, cooking stove, cookware, food, toilet paper, lantern, garbage bags, fire extinguisher, rain gear, boots, and Coast Guard-approved PFDs. Lake water is available but requires treatment; bringing your own water is recommended. All trash must be packed out. Recreation includes fishing for Dolly Varden (mid-July through September) and rainbow trout, deer hunting, berry picking among the blueberry and huckleberry bushes, and photography. The unmaintained 1.2-mile Davidof Lake Trail connects to Plotnikof Lake and Cabin. Brown bear frequent the area.
