About

Codorniz Recreation Area Campground sits on the shores of H.V. Eastman Lake in the golden Sierra Nevada foothills, offering 1,780 surface acres of water fed by the Chowchilla River. The campground is an ideal base for fishing, canoeing, birding, and hiking, with the area attracting abundant wildlife including bobcats, golden eagles, mountain lions, hawks, and wood ducks. Rolling hills covered in tall grasses and scattered oak trees provide stunning mountain views. The campground offers a variety of site types including standard electric and non-electric sites, tent-only sites, RV sites with electric hookups, and group camping areas. Equestrian facilities with horse corrals are available for those traveling with horses. On-site amenities include showers, fish cleaning stations near boat ramps, disc golf, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Eastman Lake holds the distinction of being California's first designated Trophy Bass Fishery by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, making it a premier destination for anglers. The lake's warm waters attract visitors year-round for swimming, boating, and water sports. The nearby Sierra National Forest offers additional recreational opportunities just a short drive to the east.
