About

Codorniz Campground occupies a scenic hillside along Eastman Lake, roughly 30 miles northeast of Madera in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The reservoir, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was the first in California designated as a Trophy Bass Fishery by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The surrounding oak woodland draws abundant wildlife including bobcats, golden eagles, mountain lions, and wood ducks. The campground features over 60 campsites ranging from tent-only spots to full-hookup RV sites with 30-amp electric and water connections. Some sites accommodate rigs up to 55 feet. Three equestrian sites include corrals and hitching rails. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, an RV dump station, fish cleaning stations, free WiFi, a playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and an amphitheater. Reservations are available year-round through Recreation.gov. The lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and bird watching. A network of trails allows hiking and horseback riding around the reservoir.
