This is a day-use only facility. No overnight camping is allowed. Day-use passes are required for each vehicle. A burn ban is currently in effect through May 18, 2026; no fires allowed, but propane grills are permitted.

About
Buck Ridge is a group day-use pavilion within the Buck Ridge Recreation Area at Hidden Dam, Hensley Lake. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping permitted. The pavilion features drinking water access, multiple picnic tables, a large barbecue pit and grill, two horseshoe pits, and water-borne restrooms. The 1,500-acre Hensley Lake was created by Hidden Dam on the Fresno River and offers over 20 miles of shoreline. The recreation area includes boat ramps, a swim beach, playground, disc golf course, and trails for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. Popular water activities include swimming, water skiing, and fishing. Buck Ridge sits among the oak woodlands of the Sierra Nevada foothills, providing a mix of sun and shade. The location offers convenient access to Yosemite National Park (about one hour north) and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (about 1.5 hours southeast).
Directions
From Madera: Take SR 99 to exit 153B, bear right onto Madera Ave for 0.3 miles to Gateway. Turn left for 0.2 miles to SR 145 (Yosemite Ave). Turn right and go 7.2 miles to Road 33. Turn left on Road 33 for 1 mile to Road 400. Turn right on Road 400 and go 9.7 miles to Buck Ridge Recreation Area.
