About

China Flat Campground occupies a forested setting along the Silver Fork of the American River in California's Eldorado National Forest. Located about 32.5 miles east of Placerville via Highway 50 and 4.5 miles southeast of Kyburz on Silver Fork Road, the campground provides access to a quiet stretch of river popular for fishing and swimming. The campground features 19 sites spread across two loops, including seven double sites suitable for larger groups, six tent-only sites, and several walk-in sites. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with bear boxes provided for food storage. Potable water is available from spigots throughout the campground and tested monthly during the operating season. RV water filling from campground spigots is prohibited. Bears are active in the area, requiring proper food storage in the provided bear boxes. Pets must remain on leash at all times. Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings using only dead and downed wood collected on-site. The maximum stay is 14 days per district per year.
