About

Silver Fork Campground is nestled in the Eldorado National Forest at an elevation of 5,600 feet, situated along the scenic South Fork of the American River. Located 32.5 miles east of Placerville on Highway 50 and 8 miles south of Kyburz on Silver Fork Road, this campground offers a classic Sierra Nevada forest camping experience with easy access to water-based recreation and hiking. The campground features 35 sites, including 6 tent-only sites, 25 tent/trailer/RV sites, and 4 double sites for larger groups. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear box for food storage. Campground amenities include potable water that is tested monthly, vault toilets, garbage disposal, and a dump station. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at 1:00 PM. Recreational opportunities abound in the Silver Fork area. The river offers fishing for trout, and day hiking options include trails in the nearby Caples Creek area. An equestrian trailhead is located within 5 miles of the campground. Bears are active in the area, so proper food storage in the provided bear boxes is required.
