About

Highway 472 Camp provides a rugged, no-fee camping experience within Louisiana's Kisatchie National Forest, situated near the National Catahoula Wildlife Management Preserve. The camp is split into two distinct areas on opposite sides of Highway 472 near Packton, with the northern section in the Winn Ranger District and the southern section in the Catahoula Ranger District. This primitive camping area caters primarily to hunters taking advantage of the surrounding wildlife management preserve, though it remains open to the general public year-round. Both camping areas offer vault toilets and information boards, but campers must come fully prepared with their own water supply and follow pack-in, pack-out principles for all waste. The location offers direct access to the forest's backcountry and hunting opportunities. Sites are available first-come, first-served with no reservations required or accepted.
