About

Saddle Bayou Camp is a designated hunter campground located in the Catahoula Ranger District of Kisatchie National Forest in Grant Parish, Louisiana. The campground offers a very primitive camping experience in a bottomland hardwood setting, providing a rustic base camp for outdoor enthusiasts. Its location near the National Catahoula Wildlife Management Preserve makes it especially popular with hunters during hunting season. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system and no camping fees. Facilities are minimal, reflecting the primitive nature of the site. Potable water is not available, so visitors must bring their own water supply. The campground is accessed via Forest Service roads off U.S. Highway 167 north of Alexandria. Visitors should come prepared for a self-sufficient camping experience in a natural bottomland hardwood forest environment. The Catahoula Ranger District office can provide additional information about current conditions and hunting season dates.
