About

Calabasas Group Campground offers groups of up to 250 people a private, natural setting in the Coronado National Forest of southern Arizona. Located off Ruby Road near Peña Blanca Lake, the campground sits at 4,000 feet elevation in a shallow, grassy valley shaded by mature oak trees. Well-worn pathways lead to low hilltops with views of surrounding valleys and the sky island mountain ranges. The entire campground is reserved by one group at a time, providing privacy for weddings, family reunions, and other large gatherings. Winter is particularly popular due to mild seasonal temperatures. Facilities include 14 picnic tables, 12 campfire rings with grills, three pedestal barbecue grills, benches, and vault toilets. Groups exceeding 50 people must bring portable toilets. The access road is gated and locked when the area is not reserved. Nearby Peña Blanca Lake offers year-round fishing for rainbow trout, bass, sunfish, crappie, and catfish. The area also provides hiking, mountain biking, and birding opportunities. Tumacácori National Historical Park and Tubac Presidio State Historic Park are within easy driving distance for day trips.
