About
Bowns Campground is a developed campground located 25 miles east of Featherville and 18 miles north of Fairfield in the Sawtooth National Forest. The campground features 10 camping units along Big Smoky Creek, including two double family sites designed to accommodate larger groups. The setting provides a peaceful mountain environment ideal for fishing enthusiasts and outdoor recreation. The campground offers standard amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and seasonally available drinking water. Miller Creek Trail (#087) begins just south of the campground, providing hiking and motorcycle access into the surrounding forest. The creek offers fishing opportunities, and the area is suitable for picnicking and general camping activities. Access to Bowns Campground requires traveling on Forest Road #094 and Forest Road #227, which may be challenging for larger rigs due to mountain road conditions. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and does not accept reservations through Recreation.gov.

From Fairfield, go north 18 miles on Forest Road #094 and west approximately 6 miles on Forest Road #227.
