About

Six Mile Campground is a small, well-situated Forest Service campground located 2 miles off Highway 230 in Carbon County, Wyoming. At an elevation of 7,606 feet, the campground occupies a saddle above the North Platte River, providing direct access to some of Wyoming's finest trout water and the Platte River Wilderness Area. The campground offers 9 sites, including 3 pull-through sites suitable for trailers up to 30 feet. Each site has a picnic table and fire grate, with potable water and a vault toilet available. There is no trash service; campers must pack out all garbage. A separate parking area accommodates hikers and river floaters. The North Platte River here is classified as a blue-ribbon trout stream by Wyoming Game and Fish, with brook, brown, and rainbow trout. Douglas Creek nearby also offers good fishing. The Platte River Trail provides hiking access into the wilderness. All watercraft except inflatables under 10 feet require a Wyoming Aquatic Invasive Species decal.
