Blue Hollow Campground
Open — Open year-round for reservations. The campground is primitive with no water or electric hookups.
Special Weather Statement issued April 12 at 2:03PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA
The combination of 10 hour fuel moistures around 7 to 10 percent, relative humidities around 25 to 30 percent, and wind gusts around 20 to 25 mph will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires on Monday. Residents and visitors are urged to properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any equipment that could create sparks and keep vehicles off of dry grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. Lastly, remember to obey local burn bans. For more information about wildfire danger, burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, please visit your state forestry or environmental protection website. About
Blue Hollow Campground is a primitive group camping area located within Natural Bridge State Park, home to the 200-foot tall Natural Bridge, a National Historic Landmark. The campground features three group tent sites, each equipped with three tent pads, a private picnic shelter, and a fire pit. Centrally located port-a-johns serve all campsites. The primitive setting means no electric or water hookups are available, and the access road does not accommodate RVs or trailers. Campers can explore more than 10 miles of hiking trails throughout the park, including the Cedar Creek Trail which passes under the Natural Bridge to Saltpeter Cave, Lost River, and Lace Falls. The Buck Hill Trail offers an Appalachian Trail-like experience, while the Blue Ridge and Skyline Trails provide spectacular mountain vistas. The park also features an 18-hole disc golf course, a Children's Discovery Area, and access to Cedar Creek for fishing (ages 15 and under). The park's visitor center offers exhibits, a gift shop, and seasonal food service.
