Big Springs Campground sits in the Umatilla National Forest on the Washington side, offering a refreshing escape during hot summer months. The primitive campground provides 10 sites split evenly between tent and trailer camping, each with a fire ring and picnic table. A single vault toilet serves the campground, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available. The campground is accessed via Forest Service Road 42 (Iron Springs Road, graveled) and FSR 125, approximately 39 minutes from Pomeroy or 72 minutes from Clarkston. Hunting and day hiking opportunities are available in the surrounding forest. The site is free with no reservations required, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day camping limit within any 30-day period.

Directions

From Pomeroy, WA: Head east on US Highway 12 for 10 miles. Just before Alpowa Summit, turn right onto Sweeney Gulch Road for 8.3 miles where it becomes WA Highway 128 east. Continue 3 miles, then turn right onto Forest Service Road 42 (Iron Springs Road, graveled) for 8.2 miles. Turn right onto FSR 125; campground entrance is on the left.
