About

Pataha Campground is a quiet, primitive campground located in the Umatilla National Forest in southeastern Washington's Blue Mountains. The campground sits along Pataha Creek, which receives annual fish stocking each spring. Fish weirs have been installed to assist fish passage through a culvert in the creek, making this a worthwhile destination for anglers seeking trout. The campground offers basic facilities with a single vault toilet but no potable water, so campers should plan to bring their own water supply. There is no fee to camp here, making it an accessible option for budget-conscious visitors. The surrounding area provides opportunities for hunting and exploring the scenic Blue Mountains landscape. Access is via Forest Service Road 42 and Pataha Spur Road, approximately 35 minutes southeast of Pomeroy. The campground sees light use, offering a peaceful setting for those seeking solitude in the forest.

Directions

From Pomeroy, Washington (35 minutes): Take 15th Street south to Highway 128 and continue for 13.2 miles. Continue onto Forest Service Road 42 (Iron Springs Road) for 2.5 miles. The road turns slightly right and becomes Ruchert Road; continue 0.2 miles. Turn right onto Pataha Spur Road and arrive at the campground in 1.2 miles.
