About

Aspen Leaf Cabin sits in a high-elevation meadow at 9,000 feet on the Uncompahgre Plateau, surrounded by aspen groves and mountain shrub vegetation. The cabin is part of the historic Cold Springs Work Center, one of three rental cabins available in this remote area of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The one-bedroom cabin accommodates up to six guests with three twin beds and a queen sofa sleeper. While there is no electricity, propane powers the stove, refrigerator, and heating. A bathroom with flush toilet and shower provides comfort beyond typical backcountry accommodations. Basic cooking utensils, dishes, and cleaning supplies are provided. Recreation opportunities abound nearby. The Divide Forks ATV complex offers over 50 miles of motorized trails, while the Tabaguache Trail System draws mountain bikers. Hiking, horseback riding, and fishing are also accessible. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage in approved containers or vehicles is required.
