About
Aspen Hollow Group Campground sits at 5,300 feet elevation within the Giant Sequoia National Monument, adjacent to Kings Canyon National Park and just one mile from Hume Lake, an 87-acre man-made reservoir in the Kings River Watershed. This group-only facility accommodates up to 100 people with back-in spaces for 35 vehicles, making it ideal for large gatherings, family reunions, or organized group outings. The campground provides vault toilets, hand-pumped drinking water, fire rings, picnic tables, and bear-proof food storage lockers. The Sequoia National Forest takes its name from the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves on the forest's lower slopes. The forest comprises about 1.1 million acres with elevations ranging from 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating precipitous canyons and mountain streams with spectacular waterfalls. Aspen Hollow's location in the Hume Lake Ranger District provides access to 13 sequoia groves and the majestic Kings Canyon. In addition to hiking the sequoia groves, visitors enjoy swimming, trout fishing, and boating at nearby Hume Lake. The trails in the Monument are open to hikers, horses, and bikes, though bikes are not permitted in wilderness areas. This is bear country, and campers must follow food storage guidelines. The campground is operated by Rocky Mountain Recreation Company under concessionaire permit. Reservations are required and can be made through Recreation.gov.
Directions
From Fresno, take Highway 180 east to Grants Grove. Drive approximately 12 miles, then turn right onto Hume Road and continue 4 miles, passing Christian Camps. Turn right at the Aspen Hollow sign and go 3/4 mile to the campground entrance.
