About

Aspen Glade Campground is located on the Conejos River in southern Colorado near the New Mexico border, providing a premium setting for fly fishing and peaceful nature watching. The campground consists of three loops: Loops A and B are lightly wooded with Ponderosa pines, while Loop C sits adjacent to the river and is heavily wooded with tall, mature spruce, aspen, and fir trees. The understory throughout is grass topped with pine needles, and the scent of Ponderosa fills the air. The campground offers 32 sites including 7 pull-through sites suitable for RVs up to 45 feet. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water are available. Just upstream of the campground is a section of Gold Medal trout fishing, one of only 168 miles in Colorado with this designation, offering top-tier fly fishing for large quality trout. Nearby attractions include the Sheep Creek Trail for hiking and the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, which offers a 64-mile steam train journey through abandoned mining towns with access in Antonito. Wildlife in the region includes bear, deer, elk, and various birds. The campground is in bear country, so proper food storage is required.
