Alturas Creek runs through the campground, and some sites offer lake or creek views. Personal watercraft are prohibited on the lake. A day-use beach and picnic area on the north side of the lake is within walking distance. The 10-mile round-trip Alpine Meadows Trail begins nearby, offering spectacular canyon, meadow, and alpine lake views. Nearby attractions include Perkins Lake less than 2 miles away with fishing and canoeing, as well as Pettit and Yellowbelly Lakes.
