About
Alturas Lake Inlet Campground is located where Alturas Creek flows into Alturas Lake, nestled at the base of the Sawtooth Mountain Range in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The campground features 28 campsites including 8 double-sites, set among a mixed-growth conifer forest with partial shade and summer wildflowers. Alturas Creek runs through the campground, and some sites offer lake or creek views. Alturas Lake provides excellent recreation opportunities including fishing for bull trout and Kokanee salmon, boating, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. Personal watercraft are prohibited on the lake. A day-use beach and picnic area on the north side of the lake is within walking distance. The 10-mile round-trip Alpine Meadows Trail begins nearby, offering spectacular canyon, meadow, and alpine lake views. Nearby attractions include Perkins Lake less than 2 miles away with fishing and canoeing, as well as Pettit and Yellowbelly Lakes. The area offers an estimated 750 miles of trails for hiking and biking throughout the valley and surrounding mountains.
