About

Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park provides beach camping on Oahu's windward coast between Kaneʻohe and Laʻie. The 10 tent-only campsites sit along Kahana Bay, offering direct beach access and views of the surrounding valley. Facilities include restrooms, showers, water fountains, and picnic tables. The park occupies one of the few publicly owned ahupuaʻa remaining in Hawaii. This ancient Hawaiian land division stretches from the mountains to the sea, and 31 resident families help maintain the valley's cultural traditions through interpretive programs. The valley receives heavy rainfall, averaging nearly 300 inches annually in some areas, so rain gear is essential. Camping requires advance reservations through Explore Outdoor Hawaiʻi at explore.ehawaii.gov. Permits can be obtained up to 30 days in advance for Oahu parks. No camping is allowed on Wednesday or Thursday nights. Maximum stay is 5 consecutive nights.
