About

Aeneas Springs Dispersed camping area is situated in the Aeneas Valley section of Colville National Forest's Tonasket Ranger District in Okanogan County, Washington. The area is part of the remote eastern blocks of the district, which include the Buckhorn, Mount Hull, Bonaparte and Aeneas blocks. The landscape transitions from grass and shrubs at lower elevations to ponderosa pine forests at mid-elevations, with Douglas fir, western larch, and subalpine forests at higher elevations above 6,000 feet. This is a true dispersed camping area with no developed facilities, water, or garbage services. Campers must be completely self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash. The area offers opportunities for solitude and backcountry camping experiences in a relatively undiscovered part of northeastern Washington. Access is via Aeneas Valley Road and forest service roads, which may be unmaintained and require high-clearance vehicles depending on conditions.

Directions

From Tonasket, travel State Route 20 east for 12 miles to the Aeneas Valley turnoff (County Road 9455). Follow Aeneas Valley Road into the national forest. Specific access depends on which forest service roads are open and passable.
