Field Tract Campground is situated on the banks of the Pecos River in Santa Fe National Forest, surrounded by the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The campground offers 15 sites including six with three-sided shelters, suitable for tents and RVs up to 22 feet. The forested setting provides excellent fishing access on the Pecos River and nearby picnicking areas with scenic variety. The location offers direct access to multiple trails throughout Pecos Canyon and trailheads to the Pecos Wilderness within 10 miles. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with bald eagles migrating through the canyon during winter months. The family-friendly atmosphere and heavy usage make it a popular destination for those seeking river-based recreation. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov and must be made at least 4 days in advance, up to 6 months ahead. The campground features vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and grills at each site. A campground host is present during the operating season. The gate closes at 8:00 p.m. for security purposes.
