About
Summerdale Campground is located in the Highway 41 Corridor of the Bass Lake Ranger District, an area known for its giant sequoias. The campground sits in a scenic wildflower-filled meadow surrounded by fir, cottonwood, and cedar trees, offering a shaded respite during warm summer months. Big Creek runs through the campground, providing excellent rainbow trout fishing and habitat for an active beaver population. The campground's proximity to Yosemite National Park makes it a popular base camp for day trips into the park. Nearby attractions include the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, Nelder Grove for walking among giant sequoias, and the Miami Motorcycle Trails Area for off-road riding. The 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail is also accessible from the area. Each of the approximately 60 campsites features a paved parking area, picnic table, grill, and campfire ring. Vault toilets are available but potable water is not provided. The maximum vehicle length is 24 feet, and sites accommodate up to 6 people. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov with a minimum three-day advance booking requirement, two-night minimum on weekends, and three-night minimum on holidays.
Directions
From Fresno, take Highway 41 north through Oakhurst, continuing 12 miles past town. Just past Fish Camp, the campground entrance is on the left side of the highway, 1.5 miles before the Yosemite National Park south entrance.
