Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Risk of mud and rock slides in the foothills. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 207 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Local law enforcement reported flooded roadways from heavy rain. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western Plumas County/Lassen Park Counties. * WHEN...Until 4 PM PST Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact travel today and the Monday morning commute. About
Woodcamp Campground is situated on the scenic western shore of Jackson Meadow Reservoir within Tahoe National Forest, at an elevation of 6,100 feet. The campground lies in a rolling forested valley surrounded by pine and fir trees, with beautiful views of the Sierra Crest and English Mountain. The facility offers 20 single-family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. The Woodcamp Recreation Area serves as an excellent base camp for diverse outdoor activities. Jackson Meadow Reservoir provides opportunities for boating, canoeing, water skiing, swimming, and fishing for rainbow and brown trout. A boat launch and designated swim beach are located within the recreation area, though motorized watercraft are prohibited due to golden mussel prevention measures. A half-mile interpretive nature trail winds through the campground, while a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail meanders along the reservoir's east side. Hunting and biking are popular in the surrounding area. The campground provides both flush and vault toilets and drinking water from faucets. Bears frequent the area, requiring all food to be stored in approved containers. The facility does not offer utility hookups, showers, cell phone service, or telephones. Campground is operated by Nevada Irrigation District in cooperation with Tahoe National Forest. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through Recreation.gov.
Directions
From Interstate 80, exit onto Highway 89 in Truckee. Follow Highway 89 north for 17 miles to the Jackson Meadows turnoff. Travel west for 18 miles to Jackson Meadows Reservoir. Cross over the dam and continue to the junction. Turn left and continue to the Woodcamp Recreation Area.
