About

White Earth Campground is located on Canyon Ferry Reservoir just east of Winston, Montana, in the scenic valley between the Big Belt and Elkhorn mountain ranges. The campground features 36 designated campsites along with a group use shelter that includes electrical power, 8 picnic tables, and 5 additional sites. During peak summer months, the campground provides vault toilets, potable water, trash and recycling containers, and on-site campground hosts. Canyon Ferry Reservoir offers diverse year-round recreational opportunities. The campground includes a boat ramp and trailer parking for water access. Summer activities include swimming, fishing, sailing, motorboating, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, windsurfing, and water skiing. Winter brings opportunities for ice fishing and skating. The area passed through by Lewis and Clark in 1805 sits halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, with Helena, Montana's capital, just 25 miles away. The campground is accessed via a 5.5-mile gravel road off Beaver Creek Road. Sites are first-come, first-served or reservable through Recreation.gov with a 14-day stay limit. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The facility is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation.

Directions

From Townsend, head north on MT Highway 12/287 to the town of Winston. Turn right onto Beaver Creek Road and follow for 5.5 miles to the campground.
