About

Jo Bonner Campground occupies a scenic spot at the northeastern end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, roughly 30 miles east of Helena, Montana. Named for Josephine Agnes Martin Bonner by Governor John Bonner, this small Bureau of Reclamation campground provides 17 standard nonelectric campsites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs up to 37 feet. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring on gravel pads. The campground includes two vault toilets, potable water, and trash service during the recreation season. A campground host is present. Just outside the campground, a gravel boat launch with courtesy dock offers direct access to Canyon Ferry's 33,500 surface acres for fishing, boating, kayaking, and water skiing. Canyon Ferry Reservoir lies between the Big Belt and Elkhorn mountain ranges, positioned roughly halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. The reservoir supports year-round recreation including ice fishing and ice skating in winter months.
