Miller Cabin

Open — Open year-round for reservations via Recreation.gov. Winter access from November through April requires snowmobile or cross-country skis; wheeled vehicle access not recommended during this period.

About

Miller Cabin sits at the confluence of Confederate and Blacktail Creeks in the Big Belt Mountains of west-central Montana. This completely remodeled two-room log cabin offers rustic accommodations with two sets of bunk beds, a kitchen hutch, table with four chairs, and basic cooking equipment including a two-burner propane camp stove and lanterns (guests must provide fuel). The site includes a wood shed and outhouse facility, but no running water is available. The cabin is accessible by high-clearance vehicle during summer months, but winter access from November through April requires over-the-snow travel via snowmobile or cross-country skis. The shaded site offers opportunities for hiking to high mountain lakes in summer, hunting and off-highway vehicle use in fall, and snowmobiling or cross-country skiing in winter. Guests must bring their own bedding, food, water, toilet paper, and pack out all trash. Firewood is not provided June 1 through August 31. Nearby Confederate Gulch has rich gold rush history, producing an estimated $19-30 million in gold between 1866-1869 and briefly becoming Montana's largest community with the boomtown of Diamond City.
